Gypsum Plasterboard Production Line

This section of a gypsum board production line carries the wet board from cutting through to the dryer entry. After cutting, the board is inspected and accelerated onto a cross belt conveyor, where waste board is removed and quality board is turned so its front face faces upward, grouped into batches and fed into the dryer through a tippler. The whole system runs under PLC control. Turning the board before drying protects the front surface and makes better use of the space and heat inside the dryer. DCI supplies this section as part of a complete line from 2 to 50 million m²/year.

Process Flow

After cutting, the wet gypsum boards are detected and quickly conveyed by a speed-up conveyor to the No. 1 cross belt conveyor area. Waste boards leave the running line on their own belt conveyor. Quality boards are lifted and turned by an inverter, then grouped into batches and sent to the dryer entry end through a tippler.

The system is fully automatically controlled by PLC. After dryer feeding, the front side of the board faces upward. This prevents damage to the front face and makes more effective use of the space and heat inside the dryer.

Step

Function

1. Cutting and detection

Wet board cut to length, then inspected

2. Speed-up conveyor

Accelerates board to create spacing for the next stage

3. Cross belt conveyor

Transfers board across the line to the turning area

4. Waste board removal

Rejected board is carried out of the line separately by belt conveyor

5. Turning / inverter

Quality board is lifted and turned so the front face faces upward

6. Grouping

Boards gathered into batches matching the dryer entry

7. Tippler

Batch fed into the dryer entry end

Raw Materials

The board line takes gypsum powder, facing paper, modified starch, foaming agent and glue as its raw materials.

Product Quality

Output meets GB/T 9775-2008 or an equivalent international standard. Board thickness is adjustable from 7 to 20 mm, in widths of 1200 or 1220 mm and lengths of 2400 to 3600 mm. By adjusting the formulation and additives, the line can produce standard board, moisture-resistant board (with silicone oil) and fire-resistant board (with fibreglass).

Installation and Training

DCI engineers attend site for mechanical installation, electrical commissioning and trial production, and remain until the line reaches design capacity. Operator and maintenance training is carried out during commissioning. Installation takes about 4 to 6 months, and the line carries one year of warranty with remote technical support and long-term spare parts supply.

FAQ

Q: What does the wet board conveying section do? A: It takes the wet board after cutting, checks it, removes waste board, turns the quality board so the front face faces upward, groups it into batches and feeds it into the dryer entry.

Q: Why is the board turned before drying? A: Turning the board so its front face faces upward prevents damage to the front surface and makes more effective use of the space and heat inside the dryer.

Q: What controls the conveying and stacking system? A: The system is fully automatically controlled by PLC.

Q: Can this section be supplied for an existing line? A: Yes. The section can be supplied as part of a new line, or for the upgrade of an existing gypsum board line.
