Phosphorus Chemical Group has successfully transformed phosphogypsum into green building materials such as self-leveling mortar and high-precision interlocking modules, featuring excellent properties of fire resistance, energy efficiency, low carbon emissions, and high performance. The production energy consumption is only one-fourth that of traditional cement, and carbon emissions are just one-seventh.

Stucco, or calcined gypsum, is the fundamental binding agent that gives gypsum board its core structural and functional properties. It is not merely a filler but the active ingredient that undergoes a chemical transformation during the manufacturing process. The performance of the entire production line and the quality of the final product are intrinsically linked to the consistent quality and correct application of the stucco.

The sulfur-containing flue gas generated by thermal power plants is treated through desulfurization, producing desulfurized gypsum. Once the desulfurized gypsum enters the workshop, it undergoes multiple processing steps, including grinding, additive mixing, foaming, water reduction, setting, and edge sealing, ultimately forming gypsum boards.

Tongling, a major hub for China’s copper industry and sulfur-phosphate chemical production, has long been known for its industrial by-products: the black copper slag mountain, the red sulfur slag mountain, and the white phosphogypsum mountain, collectively referred to as the “Three Mountains.” Today, through measures such as controlling new waste generation, reducing existing stockpiles, recycling, and industrial utilization, Tongling’s traditional industries are undergoing a green transformation.

According to Document No. 291 (2023) issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China in October 2023, the third batch of industry standards revision and foreign-language projects includes the preparation of the 2023-1561T-JC “Test Method for Setting Time of Gypsum Cementitious Materials – Ultrasonic Method”. The Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of Building Materials Industry and other organizations are responsible for drafting this new industry standard.
