The gypsum powder manufacturing process is a systematic sequence that transforms raw gypsum into a ready-to-use powder. At Hengshui Decheng Machinery & Equipment Co.,Ltd, this process is designed to maintain high standards of consistency and operational efficiency.
Step 1: Raw Material Preparation
Natural gypsum or industrial by-product gypsum is the starting material. After quality checks, the raw material is fed into a crusher where it is broken into smaller chunks. It is then conveyed to a grinding mill to achieve a fine particle size.
Step 2: Calcination
The fine powder is transported to a calciner, where it is heated to temperatures between 150°C and 180°C. This step removes about three-quarters of the water molecules bound in the gypsum, producing hemihydrate gypsum. The calcination must be carefully controlled to prevent over- or under-burning, both of which affect product performance.
Step 3: Cooling and Handling
The hot calcined powder is transferred to a cooling system. Rapid and uniform cooling helps maintain the structure of the hemihydrate particles and prevents premature setting.
Step 4: Storage and Blending
After cooling, the powder is sent to silos for storage. Some production lines include a blending station where specific additives can be mixed into the gypsum to tailor it for various end uses such as tile adhesives, decorative plasters, or cement additives.
Step 5: Packaging
The final powder is packaged into bags or loaded in bulk tankers. Packaging lines are equipped with weighing and sealing systems to ensure accurate delivery and prevent contamination.
Quality Assurance
At each stage of the process, sample tests are conducted for fineness, setting time, moisture content, and chemical composition. The data is used to adjust the parameters and maintain batch-to-batch uniformity.
By adhering to a clearly defined and controlled manufacturing process, Hengshui Decheng ensures that its gypsum powder products meet the technical requirements for a wide range of construction and industrial applications.
