Recently, good news came from the Makhmour Gypsum Board and Gypsum Powder Plant Project in Erbil Province, Iraq — the successful hoisting of the rotary kiln, the main and most critical piece of equipment for the production line, has been completed. This milestone marks the transition of the project into the full-scale equipment installation phase, signaling a new wave of accelerated construction progress.
According to the project’s technical director, the rotary kiln is 24 meters long and was transported and installed in two sections, each weighing 35 tons. As the core component of the production line, the rotary kiln features large dimensions and requires extremely high installation precision. To ensure success, the project team carefully organized and scientifically planned the construction process, conducted thorough pre-construction briefings, and adopted a 120-ton truck crane for the hoisting operation. Despite challenges such as limited on-site space and high-temperature working conditions, the equipment was successfully positioned and installed, showcasing the project team’s strong engineering capabilities and professional execution.
The project is designed with an annual production capacity of 180,000 tons of plaster gypsum powder and 30 million square meters of paper-faced gypsum board. Construction includes installation of the main production line and all supporting systems and equipment. Once completed, the facility will significantly enhance the local supply capacity of building materials and promote industrial development, injecting new vitality into the regional economy.
Furthermore, the project will deepen and expand China–Iraq cooperation in the building materials sector. The project team is fully committed to ensuring high-quality construction and efficient project management, using this site as a model project to further strengthen the company’s market presence in the Middle East. The project also demonstrates the professional strength and sense of responsibility of Chinese central enterprises participating in the Belt and Road Initiative.
